MEETING MINUTES
REPUBLICAN LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT 11
JUNE 14, 2005

On June 14, 2005, Chairman Rob Haney called the Republican Legislative District 11 meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the Arizona-American Italian Club, 7509 N 12th St., Phoenix, AZ.

The invocation was given by Rev. Wes Darby. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America was led by Tom Smith.

Chairman Haney introduced elected officials, guests and newly appointed Precinct Committeemen (PC). He then reported on the June 2nd MCRC Executive Guidance Committee meeting.

Meeting Minutes for May 10, 2005, were approved as distributed. The Treasurer’s Report is published on the Website.

Web Master Teegarden reported the following are on the district’s Website: PC Handbook; state, county and district bylaws.

Don Hesselbrock, Voter Registration Chairman, suggested PC’s recruit Republican voter registrations from new homeowners within their precincts, new home developments, fairs, festivals and supermarkets. He volunteered to help PC’s with their registration drives, and asked PC’s to give him a copy of the their completed registrations forms since the district will receive $2.00 from the State Party for each registration.

Senator Leff spoke on Governor Napolitano’s proposed Task Force to study allowing the local police force to apprehend illegal aliens. Representative Tully said until the Governor lives up to her budget agreements the Republican legislators will not address nor negotiate any other issues. Representative Allen spoke of the Governor not living up to her part of the budget deal. He also thanked Precinct Committeemen for making him a home in LD/11.

First Vice-Chairman John Acer introduced guest speaker Keith DeGreen, candidate for Governor. Mr. DeGreen gave his proposed ideas on legal/illegal immigration, families and property taxes.

Chairman Haney relinquished the floor to 1st Vice-Chairman Acer in order to present a resolution from the floor and to move for its adoption. Copies of the resolution were distributed to PC’s. The Chair recognized Mr. Rob Haney. Subject of the resolution is to censure Sen. John McCain.
Mr. Haney said over the years he had become rather dismayed at McCain’s votes and attitudes. And as he traveled from door-to-door there were a number of people that were upset with McCain’s record. And there were people who said they do like him and rate him as a 9 or 10. But when Mr. Haney did a survey of the people who liked him, and the people answered questions in opposition to the way McCain has voted, Mr. Haney asked why they rated him so high if he was voting in opposition to the direction they requested. They were not aware of what McCain is doing and that is primarily because the media is on his side. The liberal media is not going to expose him.

Mr. Haney then offered the resolution for the PC’s consideration. Mr. Gene Reed seconded the motion. The Chairman twice asked for debate, with three for and three against the resolution. The PC’s overwhelmingly called for a vote (question) and the Chairman acquiesced to their wishes. Mr. John Hanks called to Table the motion. A standup vote resulted with the following counts being recorded: 20 yes and 40 no. The call to Table the motion failed. The motion for the resolution was brought up for a vote. A standup vote was taken with the following counts being recorded: 32 yes and 18 no. The Resolution of Censure and Shame over the Representation of Senator John McCain passed.

Meeting adjourned: 8:50 p.m.

Charlotte Reed, Recording Secretary
