Resolution In Opposition to the Use of Federal Tax Dollars for Embryonic Stem Cell Research
Whereas, Our own Senator McCain as well as other Republican and Democrat politicians have succumbed to pro-abortion and liberal media exhortations to promote tax-funded Embryonic Stem Cell Research (ESCR), which requires the killing of innocent human life; and
Whereas, Those politicians who espouse ethical values as well as core family values promote Adult Stem Cell Research (ASCR), because it does not destroy human life; and
Whereas, Twenty-five years of studies in ESCR have failed to produce one treatment for human ailments, nor have there been any clinical trials for humans. In fact, ESCR has proven to be unreliable…producing tumors and causing transplant rejection; and
Whereas, ASCR has resulted in over 65 successful treatments for human ailments with no rejection factor or genetic abnormalities; and
Whereas, Those who seek to rush through tax-funded ESCR ignore evidence from panels of medical researchers and bioethicists (www.stemcellresearch.org) that any potential benefits from ESCR can be replicated faster and simpler without destroying embryonic cells:
Whereas, In the 2004 Republican Platform handbook, new destructive use of embryos through taxpayer dollars is prohibited and support for innocent human life is proclaimed (pps. 72 and 92);
Resolve, That we, the Precinct Committeemen of Arizona State Legislative District 11 hereby reject the exaggerated claims supporting Embryonic Stem Cell Research as deceptive and cruel to millions of patients. We pass this resolution to encourage fellow precinct committeeman Senator McCain to reconsider his position, and we thank President Bush and Senator Kyl for their promise to prevent further use of our tax dollars for ESCR. We support President Bush’s position to veto this bill if it comes to his desk; and
Resolve, That this resolution be sent to President Bush and our Congressional Delegation, as well as issued as a press release by the District 11 Chairman. |
